Katia Capellini is a senior researcher in biomedical engineering at BCL. She gained her MSc degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2016 and the PhD degree in Information Engineering at University of Pisa in 2022. She joined the BCL group in 2017 and her main fields of research include ascending thoracic aorta aneurysm characterization and analysis, development of informatics tools for medical imaging analysis, mesh morphing techniques, computational fluid dynamics and fluid structure interaction simulations, 3D anatomical models reconstruction for 3D printing and virtual reality. She is among the authors of several international journal papers and abstracts for national and international congresses and her works were prized with the ESB-Ita best poster award in 2019 and she was one of the four runners up for the ESB Student Award in 2021.
